Fun size, king size, regular, pumpkin-shaped, snackers, Easter-themed, you name it. If it is in same way, shape or form a Butterfinger, I will eat it.
Naturally, Halloween is a tough time for me. Having two brothers who are still of trick-or-treating age could be, for some, a blessing. For me, it is a curse. The two come home with pillowcases full to the brim with every type of candy you can imagine (over 300 pieces – they had to count for a school assignment). Of course, there are certain types neither of them enjoy, Reese’s being the main offender (I love those too, but that’s for another day). They also know their sister loves Butterfingers. Being the generous, loving siblings they are, they happily handed over handfuls of the crispety, crunchety, peanut-buttery treats.
What is it about Halloween that makes us weight-conscious girls throw caution to the wind and dive elbow-deep into those bowls of candy? I’ve been pretty good this year, excluding Halloween night when I may have had 10 or so mini bars, keeping my consumption to only a couple pieces a day. It is going to be difficult, I’m sure, to ignore the “donated” bowl until the rest of my family gets rid of the candy. Hopefully my new goals and iron will will help me through these troubling times!
